Global ePoint and Acquisition Candidate Astrophysics Move toward Definitive Agreement

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — July 18, 2005 — Global ePoint, Inc. (NASDAQ:GEPT – News), a leading manufacturer of security technologies for the aviation, military, law enforcement, industrial and commercial markets, provided an update on its proposed acquisition of Astrophysics, Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of x–ray scanning security systems. On May 27, 2005, Global ePoint, Inc. announced that it entered into a non–binding letter of intent to acquire Astrophysics. The parties are currently engaged in the process ofpreparing definitive agreements for the acquisition, which are expected to be completed in the near term. Subject to the completion of such definitive agreements, Global ePoint intends to file a proxy statement and other relevant documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission in order to seek shareholder approval for the transaction.
