Global ePoint’s AirWorks Aviation Division Announces Receipt of Order From Thomas Cook Airlines To Expand Applications for Cockpit Door Surveillance System

New System to Include Digital Video Recording

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — July 11, 2005 — Global ePoint, Inc. (Nasdaq: GEPT – News) a leading manufacturer of security technologies for the aviation, law enforcement, industrial and commercial markets, announced today that Thomas Cook Airlines UK, a worldwide charter vacation provider, has placed an order to expand its current Cockpit Door Surveillance System (CDSS) to include Digital Video Recording. Thomas Cook has been flying the AirWorks CDSS system since early 2003 on its fleet of seventeen 757’s, six A320’s and two A330’s. AirWorks will begin installations of the system on the Thomas Cook A330 fleet during the summer.

The Thomas Cook installation will combine both Digital Video Recording and CDSS to provide the Risk Management features, expanding the originally installed devices to include cameras on the forward, aft and bulk cargo doors. As a result, all cargo loading and unloading will be recorded allowing the airline to pinpoint responsibility for damages to the airplane as well as damages and disappearance of cargoes.

"We have worked hard to expand the safety and security applications of the CDSS," said Ricky Frick, AirWorks President. "As a result, the System is not only a surveillance, but a risk management tool. The ability to capture actual aircraft damage being committed or undesired activity in the loading and unloading of cargo is a key element in protecting both valuable equipment and passengers."

Additionally, international carriers frequenting airports worldwide suffer damage to the cargo area frequently during the loading and unloading of passenger baggage and cargo. The ability to capture these events provides the airline the risk management tool to identify locations, personnel and companies causing damage to the airlines aircraft.

"We are beginning to generate growing momentum from our customer base, with many of our customers expanding their original applications for the CDSS," said Frick. "Many airlines originally installed the basic system to meet regulatory compliance requirements in the initial phase, and are now taking advantage of the growth features of the system without the need to start certification requirements from scratch. We have one carrier moving forward with the digital video recording features while another carrier is currently demonstrating our new Electronic Flight Bag in their simulator. The broad array of applications possible for the CDSS differentiates us from our competitors."

The Company’s Aviation Division includes Global AirWorks, whose primary communications and security products include the Cockpit Door Surveillance System (CDSS), a digital electronic "flight bag" of all flight and on-board manuals and records for pilots and a Laptop Computer Power System for passengers and flight crews. AirWorks customers include airline major OEMs, such as AT&T Aviation, BAE Systems, In–flight Phone, L3 Communications, and Rockwell Collins; all major U.S. airlines; and all major international carriers, including ATA, Air China, Bombardier, Finnair, Varig, KLM, Lufthansa, and Cathay Pacific. AirWorks holds more than 40 supplemental type certificates (STC) certifying AirWorks as a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)–approved manufacturer and installer for a range of interior equipment and systems for a variety of commercial aircraft flying worldwide.
