Global ePoint Receives Order From Chicago Police Department for Mobile Video Surveillance Systems

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 30, 2005--Global ePoint, Inc. (Nasdaq: GEPT - News), a leading manufacturer of security technologies for the aviation, law enforcement, industrial and commercial markets, announced today that its Digital Technology Division has successfully deployed an order from the Chicago Police Department (CPD) for Sequent Ranger 350i, mobile digital video surveillance systems.

The systems provide a complete end-to-end video surveillance solution; from in-vehicle front-end surveillance to a back-end server for video data management. A key feature for the Sequent Solution is the wireless, hands free video transfer capability that provides the tamper-proof evidence that substantiates law enforcement legal cases.

The CPD is the second largest police department in the United States, and has 2,000 police vehicles. The CPD is utilizing the Sequent Ranger system to deliver streaming video surveillance wirelessly from mobile surveillance vehicles that can be deployed any where in the city.

The Ranger 350i is an in-vehicle video surveillance system combining unique video streaming capability with Global ePoint’s specialized cameras, to provide the Chicago Police Department with visual information that previously was unavailable for fighting crime. The Systems are currently deployed in police vehicles operating in the city of Chicago and surrounding areas.

The Ranger’s video streaming capabilities are currently integrated into the Chicago Police Department's internal Internet. This allows police headquarters to share information with police officers already deployed in the field and other municipal departments.

The Ranger is currently used in various vehicle platforms ranging from a police modified ambulance utilizing a 60 ft. retractable mast for traffic monitoring and special event monitoring, and to allow officials visual access to major incidents. Global ePoint's video streaming capabilities are also used in covert pickup trucks for monitoring high crime areas among offices in different districts.

"This order is significant as it represents a large, high-profile Police Department deploying our security technology," said Toresa Lou CEO of Global ePoint. "This deployment will enhance our marketing efforts with other police departments and federal agencies engaged in law enforcement. This System allows information to be shared among departments on a real-time basis. We look forward to assisting the Chicago Police Department in further deployment of these systems throughout the organization."
