California Police Department Selects Global ePoint's Perpetual Digital's Video Surveillance System for Jail and Administrative Offices

Purchase Marks Product's Initial Sale in Law Enforcement and Prison Markets

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 18, 2005--Global ePoint, Inc. (Nasdaq:GEPT - News), a leading manufacturer of security technologies for the aviation, military, law enforcement, industrial and commercial markets, announced today that a California Police Department has placed an order for the Perpetual Digital's video surveillance systems. Perpetual Digital is part of Global ePoint's Digital Technology division.

The order represents an initial deployment of an integrated video surveillance system, featuring Perpetual Digital's Digital Video Recorder (DVR) system, indoor and outdoor surveillance cameras, and Perpetual Digital's BridgeMax video archival system. The robust video surveillance system provides high resolution video, video input up to 32 cameras, internal storage capability of 600 GB, advanced search capability, remote monitoring, network integration, password protection, and custom configuration per camera. The BridgeMax storage system will provide additional video surveillance archival storage of up to two years.

For law enforcement departments the need for digital video surveillance is fueled by the necessity to monitor and record their operations, which includes inmate activity, booking, and other police activities. "A key concern for the police departments in the United States is the liability issue, specifically in relation to the handling of prisoners. This is a growing market because they are beginning to realize the benefits of digital video surveillance, which includes increased storage capacity and higher resolution imaging," remarked Mr. Edelman.

This order marks the initial entry into the law enforcement and prison market for the Perpetual Digital product line, which was just launched in January of 2005. In addition to this market, Perpetual Digital security solutions have also developed market solutions and landed opportunities for the retail, banking, and restaurant markets.
