City of Industry, Calif.—May 5, 2004—Global ePoint, Inc. (the “Company”) (Nasdaq: GEPT) announced its AirWorks division received an order from Air Macau for cockpit door surveillance systems (CDSS) as part of its strategy to expand sales of surveillance and other security and communications equipment to the worldwide aviation market.
The order allows Air Macau to outfit its fleet of Airbus aircraft and is scheduled for immediate delivery, installation in early June 2004, and includes training and on-site technical support. Air Macau is a commercial passenger carrier serving the Asian market and offering connections between China and the world's major cities.
Airbus is a consortium of European aircraft manufacturing companies and is the manufacturer of approximately half of the world's commercial aircraft seating more than 100 passengers. In 2003, more than 3,300 Airbus aircraft were operated by more than 190 airline companies worldwide.
Global Chief Executive Toresa Lou commented: "We are pleased with this new order from the Asian market and, overall, continuing growth in worldwide demand for AirWorks' CDSS. For example, CDSS installations are ongoing for Cityline, Germany's largest regional carrier, and installations for Dragon Air in Hong Kong, Lufthansa, and First Choice in the United Kingdom are scheduled this month. Installations of AirWorks' fire detection and suppression kits for AirOne in Italy are also scheduled in May.
"Furthermore, AirWorks is in a unique position to capture a larger share of Airbus' industry-leading business, since it holds Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) supplemental type certificates (STC) for every model of aircraft Airbus builds," Lou continued. "AirWorks also holds FAA CDSS parts manufacturing approval for all Airbus models, making AirWorks the only manufacturer and installer to hold such comprehensive FAA certification for all Airbus aircraft."
"From a larger perspective, AirWorks' established position in the aircraft industry and international contacts offer excellent opportunities for expanding sales in the worldwide aviation market," Lou added. "With the integration of Global ePoint's contract manufacturing and research and development capabilities, we intend to not only enhance current AirWorks products but also develop other communications and security products for our large base of global customers." |
