Global ePoint Provides Next-Generation Digital Video Command Communication System for Peterson Air Force Base

Installation Proves Effectiveness of Company’s Real-time Video Solutions for First Responders and Police Departments

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif.—Dec. 21, 2004--Global ePoint, Inc. (Nasdaq:GEPT), an innovator in homeland and aviation security, law enforcement and advanced digital surveillance and security solutions, announced today that the fire and emergency services department of Peterson Air Force Base has become one of the world’s earliest first-responder teams to install the Company’s next-generation digital video command communication systems. The announcement was made by Toresa Lou, CEO of Global ePoint, Inc.

The system, provided by Global ePoint’s Digital Technology Division, is a revolutionary implementation of real-time video communication, surveillance and command functions, ushering in a new generation of communication technology to link front-line emergency personnel and headquarter commanders. Peterson Air Force Base, located in Colorado Springs, Colo., has installed Global ePoint’s Sequent Ranger™ products, a proprietary solution combining a number of advanced digital video, wireless data communications and cellular communications technologies.

The Sequent Ranger™ products are designed for use by all emergency and first-responder personnel, including police and other law enforcement groups.  A number of municipal police departments in California and New Jersey are currently evaluating pilot installations of the technology for potential department-wide deployments in police cars and other vehicles.

“The Global ePoint solutions vastly improve the abilities of police, fire and other first-responder teams to cope with emergency situations,” said Ms. Lou.  “Our solutions are designed to provide for quick response and reliable coordination during what can be chaotic, urgent and very dangerous circumstances for emergency workers. There’s a pressing demand for these types of security-related innovations and Global ePoint continues to focus on the creation of sophisticated and reliable technologies to advance the safety and security of our citizens.”

The Global ePoint system provides automated live-view digital video broadcasting from first responders, allowing commanders virtual video-based access to front line action for command and control purposes.  The Company’s solutions are applicable to a wide range of law enforcement, military and other security applications where real-time communication and coordination is crucial.

Other key features of the system include a suite of surveillance capabilities and powerful backend computer-based archive and search functionality based on the Company’s proprietary IMS backend servers. The advanced archiving functions enable the video and audio media files recorded during emergency actions and responses to be easily stored and retrieved, both for immediate playback or for review at later dates.    Because the Global ePoint recording and archiving tools records at a higher resolution and frame rate than competing products, the Global ePoint systems provide enhanced reviewing capability.

Such archiving capabilities are particularly critical for police and law enforcement organizations. The server technology enables greatly improved ease of digital data management, compared with previous generations requiring physical storage of bulky VHS videotapes, crude search and archive functionality and very poor applicability as an evidence tool.   The Global ePoint solutions generate video and audio data files that can be easily and powerfully archived by computer. Equally important, the data that can be used reliably as evidence, because the chain of custody can be securely established for legal use.

“In my judgment, these are perfect systems for law enforcement,” said Global ePoint Director Daryl Gates, former Chief of Police for the Los Angeles Police Department and a respected authority on law enforcement.  “Eventually, I think all police departments will have these sorts of digital video surveillance and archiving systems. They not only provide excellent sources of communication and high-quality video evidence, they also protect both the police departments and citizens by providing high-quality evidence for use resolving complaints or lawsuits regarding police actions.”

Live remote video streaming from front line to command headquarters is accomplished using a connection between cellular CDMA networks and Global ePoint’s Sequent Proxy Server.  Global ePoint’s breakthrough compression technologies vastly increase functionality of real-time video and information transmittal and archiving during emergency operations, ensuring sharply improved communication and coordination between headquarters and front-line personnel.

“The installation at Peterson Air Force Base as well as the police pilots projects further validates and substantiates the inroads our company is making in this critical aspect of homeland security,” said Ms. Lou.
